During my residency at Escape to Create in Seaside, Florida, in February 2020, I painted plein air self-portraits as climate activist Greta Thunberg to address climate change. I arrived with pre-stretched canvases to start work, then found a used plastic tarp, a material evocative of the ravages of extreme climate.
