These paintings include the earliest works in The White House Collection, self-portraits-as First Ladies. Many of these works began with riffs on the official portraits, and focus on mid-century modern First Ladies, such as Mamie Eisenhower, Jackie Kennedy and Eleanor Roosevelt, and since the 2009 primary include Hilllary Clinton.
